About this Blog

This site has been created in honour of a colleague and friend, and dedicated to those who have been affected by cancer. To all those currently fighting the battle, those mourning the loss of a friend or family member or celebrating the good news that they are in remission.

To these amazing souls who are going through this as well as their families and friends, know that there are many of us out there spreading the "hoop/hope" for you, for the mourning hearts to heal and that those who are suffering will have hope in their lives to continue the fight and be victorious in the end. This is for you, so please continue spreading the hoop/hope and watch it grow!

The idea behind the hoop project is to spread the Hoop, or Hope, and involve as many people as we possibly can. Our friend has a tattoo of hoop (hope in Afrikaans) on her arm and we wanted to do something special for her, so we created a stencil of her tattoo and have started spreading the hope amongst ourselves. In order for this initiative to catch fire we need these messages of hope and love to travel far and wide because she is not able to.

Download the stencil and help us send the message as far as we can. Email your photos and messages to us at thehoopproject@gmail.com

Eco Park, Centurion

The main focus on the photo is to describe the faith and love in friendship combined with the should be worldly told story of this girl that has been gifted with extraordinary talent but has been given limited time.

We now have a legacy to form part of our wall of (HOOP) friends, memories. The initial thought was to have everyone dear to us leave a commemorative plaque to be looked back on and remember what we as friends has gone through. One in particular is that memories can save your life and having so much love in it you will never be alone again.

We found this story to be such an amazing influence and motivation to seize whatever comes your way and have faith (HOOP) in all good and true.

You Are Loved

Hi There,

You came into our lives just a short while ago and you have touched each and every one of us to the deepest core. Touched our lives and our hearts.

Has anyone ever told you what a special person you are?
I hope so…. I hope you’ve been told dozens of times…. Because you are just amazing!

You deserve to know that…..

It takes someone rare and remarkable to make the lives of everyone around them nicer, brighter and more beautiful and enrich them with your life. It takes someone who has a big heart and a caring soul. It takes someone who’s living proof of how precious a person can be with the spunk of life.

You have inspired us all!!

I want you to know how amazing you are and how much you’re treasured and celebrated and quietly thanked. You, to realize what a beautiful soul you have…..

You inspire so much joy in the lives of everyone who is lucky enough to know you. You deserve the best in return, and one of my heart’s favourite hopes is that the happiness you give away will come back to warm you each and every day of your life.

I came across this song, “You are loved (Don’t give up)” from Josh Groban and thought about you.

"You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)" by Josh Groban

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I...I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I...I will break it for you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I...I will be there to find you

Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I...I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

You are loved
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Every one needs to be heard
You are loved

Hope Floats (Balloon Release)

I thought it would be a different way to spread HOOP.

On the tags - I numbered each one

Then I had the HOOP on the front and on the back I wrote:
This balloon was released on the 29/05/2011.
If you find the tag, PLEASE check out the blog and
SPREAD THE HOPE

I loved every minute of doing this.

HOOP in Magaliesberg

Magaliesberg mountain view
On top of the highest peak of the Magaliesberg mountain I saw a breathtaking view together with a cross, which symbolised God overlooking everyone and everything.
‘HOOP’ will now for all eternity stand on that mountain at the foot of the cross.

Rock art in the Magaliesberg
The oldest way of human expression was through art. Thanks to cave paintings modern humans could understand, learn from, and appreciate the way we are today. These paintings survived through thousands of years because of their location.  I chose to place ‘HOOP’ in a cave on the Magaliesberg mountain, to symbolise eternity, remembrance, appreciation and understanding.
